As VP of Engineering at LPL Solar, James Plumley brings 30 years of extensive engineering experience in the energy sector to the leadership team, with a specialized focus on large-scale civil and environmental operations and permitting. In his current role, he oversees all phases of project design and the strategic coordination of all engineering and design contractors.
Throughout his career, James has built a formidable track record of managing massive infrastructure, including the successful delivery of 32 utility-scale solar projects representing over 5 GW of power. Prior to joining LPL Solar, he served as Director of Engineering for a prominent energy company, where he oversaw a team of 25 engineers across four subsidiaries. His diverse project portfolio encompasses the design, construction and reconstruction of bridges, highways, railways, reverse osmosis water systems, high-pressure gas and liquid pipelines, Army Corps of Engineer mitigation projects and complex subterranean geological investigations.
James holds an Engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech). Dedicated to the highest technical standards of his field, he is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in West Virginia.
